Trying Out Colourpop Makeup

Trying Out Colourpop Makeup

You may know (because I’ve mentioned it in many blog posts), that bae spent a study abroad year in California and recently got back. He was awesome enough to let me order some Colourpop makeup to his accommodation and brought it all back for me, so I got a bit carried away and ordered a load of ultra matte liquid lipsticks, gel eyeliners and cream blushes…

colourpoplipsticks

I wanted to try the Ultra Matte Liquid Lipsticks mostly, because they’re so popular and apparently the formula is the same as the Kylie Jenner lip kits. I ordered a few pink-neutral shades, including Clueless, Beeper and Tulle, as well as a purple (Bedazzled) and blue (Jellies) for fun. These were on sale for only $4.80 each, which is around £3.50 – crazy for such amazingly pigmented, long-lasting liquid lipsticks! Clueless, the pink-ish nude, is definitely my favourite, but I do love the more adventurous purple shade too. I haven’t tried out Beeper yet, because I think it might be a bit too dark a brown for my pale skin tone, but Tulle will be a perfect deep terracotta for a night out!

As you can see from the swatches, these Ultra Matte Liquid Lipsticks are very pigmented, and they take a while to dry, which can feel a bit weird at first, but they last so long. I’ve even kissed with the blue one on and it didn’t get on him at all.

colourpop-cream-blushes

My favourites of the products I got are definitely these ‘Super Shock Cheek’ cream blushes. I decided to get a pretty pink shade called Birthday Suit, which is what I typically wear every day, as well as Hippo, a gorgeous silvery-purple shimmery highlight. These are so soft and creamy, easy to blend, and look so pretty on. The highlight is literally perfect for my skin tone, it’s very similar to High Beam by Benefit, but in a cream form and more shimmery. They’re not as long-lasting as the lipsticks, but they do the job well enough. These were $6.40, equivalent to roughly £4.70, which is still so cheap!

Finally, I decided to get two gel eyeliners, because weirdly enough, I’ve never tried gel eyeliner before, so why not? I went for Swerve, a matte black, and Descando, a pretty purple with flecks of blue glitter. It’s actually a fair bit lighter in colour than the picture above shows (today was stormy and I couldn’t get decent photos). These gel eyeliners are so smooth and easy to apply, even for a clumsy person like me who always makes a mess of eyeliner. The black one isn’t as pigmented as a black liquid eyeliner, as expected, but it’s still pretty black, and the purple one looks so pretty! Strangely, the purple one stains my eyelids, but the black one doesn’t. I will say that these don’t last as long as liquid eyeliner, and wearing a primer is essential unless you want smudges all over your eyelids after an hour or two, but I imagine that’s the same with most, if not all gel eyeliners, so I’m definitely not disappointed. These were only $4.80, like the liquid lipsticks.

I wish it were easier to get Colourpop in the UK, because I definitely want to try out more of their products now! I literally wear the blush, highlight and black gel eyeliner every day now, I’m worried that I’ll have to start rationing them.
