Pastel in Autumn

Pastel in Autumn

So, I was planning a super awesome blogging comeback, bought a snazzy new theme from Pipdig, got all motivated… Then I didn’t blog for nearly a month. TYPICAL EMILY.

Hi, I’m still alive. I started an intercollegiate MA at King’s College and UCL, it’s been manic. This is literally my first actual day off in a month, because I’m at work whenever I’m not at uni, but today’s class got cancelled, yay! I’ve got 5-7 hours worth of Greek homework to do by Friday, but for once I’m going to spend some time blogging… Priorities.

I am by no means a ‘fashion blogger’, mainly because I’m not photogenic at all, and I get really embarrassed whenever someone takes photos of me. HOWEVER, today I’m sharing some cute as hell jackets from Simply Be, who were kind enough to let me pick out a couple to wear this Autumn. I didn’t think I’d find anything to fit me, because Simply Be are a plus-sized brand, but to my surprise, a lot of their clothes are available in sizes 8-10 too!

Firstly, I picked out a black denim jacket with embroidered roses on the sleeves (£49), which I’ve been living in for the past month. More on that in my next outfit post, because this one is all about the duster coat I picked, in a lovely, muted-rose shade (also £49). I wasn’t 100% sure about this when I tried it on, because these styles usually look best on long-legged, super slim bodies, and I’m a 5 ft 2″ curvy gal, but it does look nice over jeans, or a smart outfit.

I have several thick winter coats, so it’s nice to have a thinner jacket on those typical London Autumn days of both rain and sun. I can also bring this back out in Spring; the pastel shade is perfect.

Outfit Details

  • Yay for a day off! Hahaha, I’ve always wanted to be one of those ~instagram fashion models~ but when I ask my partner to take a picture of me, I’m suddenly like ?????? and forget what posing is and give the camera an awkward smile. It’s horrendous – but I’m not so bad when I’m alone, haha.

Long thin jackets seem very in right now – I’ve been seeing them + long cardigans everywhere!

  • Melanie Edjourian

I didn’t realise simply be did smaller sizes too I thought they just did the lager ones. The coat looks like a great Autumn colour. Wow that’s a lot of Greek homework. Mine have their Greek tutor on Wednesday this week. I think they did all their homework.

  • I have a similar blush jacket and it looks lush on you. Plus you are photogenic, I hope that your Greek homework goes ok for you x

  • You look amazing! Love your style ✿

  • Welcome back to blogging! That’s a really nice coat and a loving in between item x

  • I’m loving the trench coat!! I also wear colours in the autumn, too many people get dark and boring in their style

  • Melanie

I like the trench coat and the cute striped h &m tee :)x

  • I love this jacket! The colour works really well with your hair too!

  • Try not to overwork yourself, you don’t want to end up suffering burn out. I used to find it hard balancing work & studying, make sure to treat yourself to some self-care luxe in between :). Loving the pink jacket!

  • I can’t fathom the thought of buying from any of these names because I really don’t know what I’m getting along with my clothing. And I realise that you’re probably on a budget (well we all are) but you should still invest in your clothes and start creating a wardrobe for your profession. You’ll have some timeless pieces that are made to last for the future 🙂

  • Oooh! I had no idea Simply Be did smaller sizes, I’ll definitely check them out! 🙂 Your jacket looks really fab by the way – it goes so well with your hair! <3 xx
