If you are looking at renting a room in London, Balham is a good place to start. It is based in South London and has lots of attractions that are sure to appeal to you.

Balham is perfect if you have just moved to London and it has its own tube station so you can get about easily enough. It’s also home to some great places to visit which we have laid out for you as must-visits if you find yourself there.

Banana Cabaret

Banana Cabaret is perfect for flat-sharing London pals who are based in Balham if you are looking for a night out and some laughs. It’s known as the friendliest comedy club in the country, so you might even meet more friends!

Every single weekend they have the best stand-up comedians around. If you have a favourite comedian, the likelihood is that they have been there.  They host comedy festivals and have had amazing reviews from Chortle, Ed Byrne, and other prolific names in the comedy industry.

The Hildreth Street Market

The Hildreth street market is an iconic secret gem in London that you definitely need to check out. It is perfect for those of you who are foodies and looks better than ever after a bit of a facelift recently. They sell fruit, vegetables, flowers and more. They also offer al fresco dining, making them a perfect destination on summer days.

It’s always incredibly busy at the weekends, and you can explore all kinds of cafes and shops on your travels. It packs in so much for a small street that you can spend the full day there.

The Exhibit Cinema

If you are a bit of a movie buff, then you will love the Exhibit cinema. They host blockbuster movies as well as award-winning Indie movies. You will find something to cater to every taste.

As well as catching a movie it has other attributes that will make it perfect for hanging out with friends or going on a date. You can enjoy a nice glass of wine, some dinner, and an intimate night.

The Bedford

The Bedford is one of the most famous attractions in Balham. It’s attracted massive names including The Clash and U2.  Ed Sheeran fans will also be delighted to know that he played here.

They feature all kinds of live music – so you will no doubt find something that you like. They also offer comedy acts if you want your funny bone tickled, and if you are a dancer you are in for a treat. They have all kinds of dance classes including salsa, tango, and even ceilidhs.
