Pastel in Autumn

So, I was planning a super awesome blogging comeback, bought a snazzy new theme from Pipdig, got all motivated… Then I didn’t blog for nearly a month. TYPICAL EMILY.

Hi, I’m still alive. I started an intercollegiate MA at King’s College and UCL, it’s been manic. This is literally my first actual day off in a month, because I’m at work whenever I’m not at uni, but today’s class got cancelled, yay! I’ve got 5-7 hours worth of Greek homework to do by Friday, but for once I’m going to spend some time blogging… Priorities.

I am by no means a ‘fashion blogger’, mainly because I’m not photogenic at all, and I get really embarrassed whenever someone takes photos of me. HOWEVER, today I’m sharing some cute as hell jackets from Simply Be, who were kind enough to let me pick out a couple to wear this Autumn. I didn’t think I’d find anything to fit me, because Simply Be are a plus-sized brand, but to my surprise, a lot of their clothes are available in sizes 8-10 too!

Firstly, I picked out a black denim jacket with embroidered roses on the sleeves (£49), which I’ve been living in for the past month. More on that in my next outfit post, because this one is all about the duster coat I picked, in a lovely, muted-rose shade (also £49). I wasn’t 100% sure about this when I tried it on, because these styles usually look best on long-legged, super slim bodies, and I’m a 5 ft 2″ curvy gal, but it does look nice over jeans, or a smart outfit.

I have several thick winter coats, so it’s nice to have a thinner jacket on those typical London Autumn days of both rain and sun. I can also bring this back out in Spring; the pastel shade is perfect.

Outfit Details

  • Striped top from H&M, £7
  • Ripped girlfriend jeans from H&M £29.99
  • Shearling heeled boots from New Look (about 5 years ago)
  • Tweed handbag from Joules last year, £69.99

Whether you’re plus-sized or not, check out Simply Be for some lovely autumnal coats and jackets. They also do free next day delivery, which is pretty cool!

Thanks for reading,

  1. I have heard about Simply Be but never looked on their site, will have to now. I love that jacket on you, the colour and fit suits you so well. Like your bedroom too.

  2. Love your new pipdig theme!! Love that jacket on you and what an unusual choice of material for this time of year! It totally works though!! I also love the colour of you hair its total autumn vibes!

  3. Oooh! I had no idea Simply Be did smaller sizes, I’ll definitely check them out! 🙂 Your jacket looks really fab by the way – it goes so well with your hair! <3 xx

  4. I can’t fathom the thought of buying from any of these names because I really don’t know what I’m getting along with my clothing. And I realise that you’re probably on a budget (well we all are) but you should still invest in your clothes and start creating a wardrobe for your profession. You’ll have some timeless pieces that are made to last for the future 🙂

  5. I didn’t realise simply be did smaller sizes too I thought they just did the lager ones. The coat looks like a great Autumn colour. Wow that’s a lot of Greek homework. Mine have their Greek tutor on Wednesday this week. I think they did all their homework.

  6. Yay for a day off! Hahaha, I’ve always wanted to be one of those ~instagram fashion models~ but when I ask my partner to take a picture of me, I’m suddenly like ?????? and forget what posing is and give the camera an awkward smile. It’s horrendous – but I’m not so bad when I’m alone, haha.

Long thin jackets seem very in right now – I’ve been seeing them + long cardigans everywhere!
