5 Things You Need To Stop Caring About

I recently started a digital journal, and thought I’d share this page with you. I’ve been practicing some mindfulness therapy, writing down my anxieties, goals, and values. Here are 5 Things You Need To Stop Caring About!

My digital journal is from Creating With Lucy. It’s a free downloadable notebook, and can be used with any pdf markup app. I’m using Goodnotes 5. She also sells some pretty awesome digital planners!

1. What Random People Think About You

It really doesn’t matter. Nurture your personal relationships, the people close to you, the ones you care about. They know you, your random work colleague or stranger on the internet probably doesn’t.

2. What Other People Look Like

It’s 2020, I do not exist to please you, and no, I do not want to shave my legs!

This is what I’m thinking (even if I don’t say it), to anyone who comments on my body.

I literally do not give a single f*ck about what you look like. I hope that you don’t care what I look like either!

Tell me about your favourite music, what you’re interested in, your life philosophy… I don’t know.

3. What People Do or Do Not Do With Their Bodies

It really is none of your business. This is another thing I just can’t comprehend. Why do people care?! Sexualities, size, race, gender identity, or even something trivial like tattoos and piercings…

My Body, My Rules.

4. Comparing Yourself With Others

Here’s something that my Mum used to always say:

“If everyone was the same, the world would be f*cking boring.”

We’re all on a different journey through life. Someone’s success does not mean you’ve failed.

5. How Many Likes and Followers You Have

It doesn’t matter! No one is more special or important than you.

Your value does not come from a digital number on a screen.

I used to care about this, particularly a few years ago when I started my blog back in 2014. I grew out of it.

I won’t lie, I do enjoy a little dopamine rush when I reach particular milestones, but I rarely check now.

I also learned that views matter a whole lot more than likes and followers, especially if you’re looking to monetise your blog. For social media, focus on engagement and building a community of people interested in your content!

Followers fluctuate. Algorithms change. Content changes. But the joy of putting pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard) endures.

At the end of the day, we want our writing to be read.

We want our art and photography seen.

Finding interesting voices to read and stories from very different life experiences to mine… that’s what it’s all about.

This concludes my ramblings for today, and the 5 things you need to stop caring about for mental wellbeing. Do you agree? Let me know if you have any more to add to the list!

If you need some more mental health or self-care advice, I’ve got lots of blog posts for you.

All the best,

  1. I think several of us are guilty for #5…especially if you have a blog or platform in which you share ideas. It’s hard not to look at how other blogs gain their following and compare. At some point you have to question whether your social media, blog or whatever is an outlet for you, or if you’re just doing it for others. — Wye

  2. i agree with these!
#5 is the most important one for me right now because ive noticed some FUNNY and cool people dont have large followings… whats important is how they are irl sometimes. i mean that’s how my friends are. im not their friends because they have followers. i want to stop caring about my own presence online and believe im great too even though i dont have many followers and online friends lol
