From exam results and birthdays to friendship anniversaries and new relationships, student life is full of opportunities to celebrate. No matter what the occasion, finding a way to make it special need not break the bank.
Have a picnic
If the celebration coincides with a spell of good weather, why not head out to a local park or forest instead of the making the usual trip down to the local.
If you’re feeling adventurous and want to show off your culinary skills, you’ll find plenty of recipes for snacks and treats you can enjoy in the great outdoors. But ultimately, it’s not really about the food, it’s about the company and the location.
If you gather together the right group of people in the right place, you’re guaranteed to have a good time.
Customised cards
When it comes to birthdays, it’s all too easy to fall into the trap of leaving a message on a social media site and nothing more.
This might be fine for someone you don’t know all that well, but if you want someone to know that you truly care about them, a nice message and a cake emoji isn’t going to cut it.
You could go old school and head to your local shop, but then you’re relying on someone else’s words to say what is in your heart.
A far better option is to use an online birthday card maker to come up with a design and message that fully reflects everything you want to say about your friend or loved one.
Game for anything
If you’re celebrating with just a few friends, structuring your time around a thrilling board game can be a fun way to spend your time. There is a huge selection of products out there, many of them made with students in mind.
The right games will keep you engrossed and entertained for hours at a time, making them extremely good value for money. There are also numerous board game cafes spread across London where you can find hundreds of games to choose from and are ideal if you have a larger group to celebrate with.
The gift of time
It may be a cliché but the notion that, when it comes to gifts, it’s the thought that counts is undeniably true. Taking the time to prepare a gift or event is a great way to show just how much a particular event or person means to you.
Gift-wrapping a packet of someone’s favourite sweets, delivering someone breakfast in bed, or even just going for a walk in the park – all these things can become extremely special because you have taken the time to plan and think them through.
When you think about some of the most memorable experiences you have had in your life, it’s likely that not all of them came with a hefty price tag.
Find creative ways to recreate these kinds of experiences for your friends and loved ones and help them to create special memories of their own.

These are definitely great ideas! They are perfect for someone on a budget and are not looking to spend a lot of money. Sometimes these end up being the best celebrations!!
Having a picnic is a great idea for a celebration and can be so cost effective, particularly if you ask everyone to bring food/drink for the rest to share. Takes all the pressure off one person too.
I think the gift of time is the best one! Appropriate for everyone and as easy as setting a date in the diary. Tx
