AD – this blog post is sponsored by Very. All opinions are my own.
It’s not even September yet, but it feels like everyone’s in the spooky spirit. Maybe it’s the seemingly endless heatwaves here in the UK making everyone long for an Autumn breeze.
There’s even a name for it now: Summerween – decorating for Halloween and getting in a spooky mood while it’s still technically summer. I’m not fighting it!
It started with a boo basket. Then it turned into decorating my living room for Autumn.
If you haven’t come across the trend, a Boo Basket is a basket of autumn and Halloween bits, put together either as a gift for someone or as some self-care for yourself.
Today I’m sharing what’s in mine and how to create one yourself.

The base = a basket
You’ve got to start with a container, whether you’re using this as a treat or creating a gift for someone else. That way, everything is together so you can reach for it when you’re ready!
This hand-woven seagrass basket was ideal. The perfect size to fit all the cozy things, while not taking up too much space.
My boo basket concept was ‘cozy spooky movie night with self-care‘. As if I needed an excuse to put on a Tim Burton film!

Add your spooky (but cute!) decorations
I wanted this basket to feel spooky in a soft way rather than anything that would actually make you jump. No creepy vibes here, just cute ghosts and a cozy Autumn aesthetic.
These absolutely adorable harvest fox decorations went in first, because I fell in love with them and can keep them out well past Halloween.
Then came the cute ghost candle holders, and probably my favourite piece of all: a ghost scene cloche, complete with a little pumpkin and filled with fairy lights.
Both of these were ideal for some movie night ambience.
If you want more in the same style, Very’s Halloween decorations edit has plenty of options!

The Perfect PJs
Halloween decor vibes sorted, I then thought about the fit!
It had to be pyjamas, and Very had my favourite brand in stock: Chelsea Peers.
These fortune teller ones with a tarot card print couldn’t be more ideal to snuggle up on the sofa in.

Some Self-Care for the Seasonal Shift
I don’t know about you, but I always like to keep my hands busy when I’m watching a film.
Sometimes it’s a creative hobby like embroidery or doodling, and other times it’s something like doing my nails.
For the boo basket, I found a great little gel trio by Nails Inc. The burgundy red is ideal for autumn!

Alongside it, the Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Nourishing Skin Essentials 3-Piece Gift Set is the piece I’d recommend having in before the seasonal shift.
It includes the famous Eight Hour Cream, a hand cream and a lip balm – all great protection for your skin as it gets colder.
This makes for a lovely thoughtful gift idea if your boo basket is for a loved one!
If you’re building one for someone else, Very’s gifts for her range is a good starting point.

Whether you’re building one for a partner, a friend, or just for yourself, a Boo Basket is easy to personalise. Swap out the decor, change the self-care pieces, and add some snacks you like.
I certainly had a great time choosing what to put in mine, decorating my space, and of course, enjoying the spooky movie self-care night!
Have you ever made a boo basket? Are you getting in the autumnal mood yet?

All the best,
