My DIY Denim Jacket with Patches & Pins!
It’s been over a year since I started collecting pins and patches for my denim jacket, and it’s getting pretty full! It’s not completely finished yet, there’s a still a few band patches I want to get, but I thought I’d write a blog post and upload a video showcasing what I have on it in, in case anyone wants to see.
This is a super easy and cheap DIY / refashioning project, and I love that it shows off my style and the bands I like. It’s certainly a conversation-starter!
Most of the patches I have are band ones, including Elvis, The Beatles and Nirvana of course – some of my favourites! The back patch features Green Day, because I’m an emo girl at heart. I picked up most of these on eBay, for around £3 and under each. I still need to get Rolling Stones and David Bowie patches – I’m intending to fill up the sleeves with all of my favourite music.
The other patches are cute aesthetic ones I’ve collected over the past few months. The toadstool and parrot are designed by Jennie Maizels – I love her work. The set of Adventure Time patches are from Forbidden Planet, unfortunately I burnt one of them with my iron!
My patches are a variety of iron-on and sew-on ones. With iron-on patches, I always make sure to sew the corners after ironing, just to make sure they stay on.
I also have a couple of adorable pins, of which my favourite is the ‘Don’t Be A Dick’ pin from Veronica Dearly.
