Today’s guest post is for anyone who wants to create their own ‘man cave’ (it doesn’t matter if you’re a man or not!) Pretty fun, right?
While a man cave was once used to refer to simply a place or just men to retreat to and call their own space, however, nowadays it does not seem to be gender specific and is a room that is special to the person using it as a place to relax, unwind and call their own.
Creating your own ‘man cave’ is a fantastic idea but it can be hard to know where to even begin. Here, we’ve put together some ideas for you that should push you in the right direction and will provide you with a room filled with all of your favourite things.
Look to Other People for Ideas
Do you know what you want to do yet with your cave? Here on our witchy blog, we would love to create a dark room filled with cauldrons and other witchy items. Your man cave should be specific to you and what you love and a great way to get some ideas is to head online and take a look at what other people are doing with their man caves.
For example, you could set your man cave up to be a working bar, or if you love a particular decade you could theme it around that such as the 60s or 70s.
If you love to watch films, why not transform your man cave into a home cinema with a large screen, comfy chairs and a popcorn maker? Many people also love to play video games, and you could fill your man cave with a mixture of new and retro games to create the perfect gaming room. You can find some ideas for this at Home BNC.
Where to Place Your Man Cave
When creating a man cave, after you have decided on a theme you will also need to think about where exactly you are going to place your special room.
For most people, having a whole dedicated man cave room in the house is not an option due to restrictions on space. In this case, another great option is to head outdoors into the garden. Here, you can purchase and build your own steel building.
A steel building is a fantastic option as it is cost effective and set up is easy so you don’t have to worry about any labour costs. Steel buildings, which can be found through Armstrong Steel, are also designed to be weather resistant, so you will be able to access your man cave all year round. What’s also fantastic about steel buildings is that they can be purchased in a number of different sizes, so you can choose which one will be best for your garden.
Decorate Your Man Cave
Once you have decided on the theme, you can then get started decorating the interior.
Think about the colours you want to use and if you will be incorporating any wall art as this can have a big impact on a room. For example, with a bar, you can include classic old bar stools or for a fifties theme you can go with a red-and-white colour scheme.
