It’s already two weeks into October and I haven’t blogged since September 28th.
October is usually my favourite month, because I love the cosiness of Autumn, hot drinks, fluffy pyjamas, and of course the excitement of Halloween (which also happens to be my birthday, and I’m 21 this year).
However, so far this month I’ve just been tired and ill, with barely enough energy to go to lectures, let alone study after. I’ve probably spent most of my time sleeping and reading in bed these past two weeks, wondering what’s wrong with me. I
keep getting this awful numbness/tingling/pain in my hands, which makes typing a challenge sometimes, so I’ve been avoiding the blog, and my Macbook in general for a while. My blood tests have shown some kind of autoimmune issue, but we don’t know what yet, so I’m waiting (somewhat impatiently) for a rheumatology appointment at the hospital.
On top of that, an x-ray at the dentist showed that 4 of my wisdom teeth have decided to grow at the same time, which is making my jaw ache, AND I’ve got a bit of fresher’s flu as well. YAY.
But this blog post isn’t a negative one, I promise. I’ve decided to write a list of positive things and what has made me happy so far this month, edging my way slowly back into regular blogging.
Here are 10 happy things in October so far…
- Relaxing Baths.
I got some Egyptian Milk & Honey bath powder from The Body Shop, total Cleopatra style, and it’s lovely. Combined with a little Shea Butter Yankee Candle, it’s perfect.
- Pretty Views.
I love that my new bedroom has a big window facing the park, so I can sit at my desk studying but also look out and watch the world. I particularly love sunsets, they’re so pretty.
I’ve not had the energy to do much recently, so books have been keeping me from going insane. I’ve been reading the Uglies series by Scott Westerfield (I finished book 3, Specials, yesterday), as well as Nina is Not OK and The Girl On The Train. I also ordered a few Ancient History books for my course – Tacitus and Suetonius have been keeping me entertained. My Kindle broke in September, and I managed to get a new touchscreen one on eBay for £30, which was awesome, and I’m using it everyday (especially on the tube to and from uni!)
- Fluffy Pyjamas, Socks & Dressing Gowns. Need I say more?!
- Amazon Prime.
It’s literally been a godsend recently, because I’ve not really had the energy to go out and get things, so I’ve ordered books and food from Amazon. I joined Amazon Student Prime, which is £39 for the year (half the normal price), and you get free next day delivery on loads of things, a £5 voucher when you join, loads of Kindle books for free, special offers for students, Prime Music, Prime Video, and my favourite of all, Prime Now.
Prime Now is awesome, it’s a one-hour delivery service for tons of things like food, alcohol, whatever really. I may have ordered a ton of brownies/cookies/yum things from a bakery… oops.
- Bakeries & Milkshakes & Ice Cream Parlours.
All the sugary goodness. I feel like the heart-eyes emoji was made for this! My Instagram is filled with unhealthy milkshakes and ice cream right now.
- Excitement for Athens.
My archaeology class get to go on a trip to Athens this December, and we’re all so excited for it. The atmosphere in that class is so positive, I can’t wait.
- Pewdiepie’s Tuber Simulator.
Okay so I downloaded Pewdiepie’s YouTube game, and I didn’t think I’d get as addicted as I have. I’ve literally been playing it every day, it’s so fun!
I started watching Gotham on Netflix after finishing Luke Cage, and whoa, it’s amazing. I love the way it’s filmed, I can’t get enough of it. I’m also really loving the new series of American Horror Story, I look forward to it every week.
- A cute new outfit.
I wandered into H&M the other day between lectures, and couldn’t resist getting this cute new outfit. The top and skirt fit so well, and go perfectly together. I love it!
So that concludes my little list of 10 things that have made me happy so far in October, I hope things will be looking up soon! There’s definitely more blog posts coming from me ASAP.
