Top 5 Christmassy Places in London

Leicester Square at Christmas

I wouldn’t say I’m as into Christmas as a lot of people are, but I do enjoy looking at pretty lights and decorations!

Last year I went ice skating, but didn’t really look at all the lovely displays around London. This year I decided to make an effort to explore all the Christmas displays!

Here are the Top 5 Christmassy places in London, from all the ones I’ve seen.

Covent Garden

Covent Garden Christmas Market

I’d recommend visiting Covent Garden all year round, but especially during December. Their Christmas decorations are different each year, and always very well-designed. Covent Garden can get really busy, so I’d recommend avoiding going on a weekend.

It’s so festive! The market is lovely, and you can get some mulled wine while you wander around.

Hyde Park Winter Wonderland

Hyde Park Winter Wonderland

I’ve already written a blog post all about Hyde Park Winter Wonderland, but it’s worth another mention here. If you’re only going to check out one place, make sure it’s Winter Wonderland.

There’s ice skating, a Christmas market, fairground rides, lights… and it’s free to enter. From 2022, you need to buy a ticket to enter Winter Wonderland, which is redeemable for any rides you want to go on.

SKATE at Somerset House

Somerset House Ice Skating

If you don’t fancy the ice rink at Hyde Park Winter Wonderland, SKATE at Somerset House is a lovely alternative, with an even lovelier view.

Other popular places for Ice Skating in London at Christmas include Canary Wharf, Hampton Court Palace, and The Natural History Museum.

Carnaby Street

Carnaby Street is my favourite place to shop. The window displays are pretty, there are lots of places to eat, and the Christmas decorations are super cute. I don’t have any pictures to show you, so you’ll have to trust me that it’s a lovely Christmassy place in London.

Carnaby is right down the road from the famous Oxford Street and Regent Street Christmas lights, so you can see both at once!

Southbank Winter Festival

Southbank Christmas Market

My friend and I decided to check out the Southbank Winter Festival recently and loved it. It’s the perfect place to stop off for a drink and a festive snack after some Christmas shopping. I’ll be honest, it was an excuse to have more mulled wine!

All the best,
