The Shard (3 of 7)

I figured since I’ve been a Londoner since September, I should write a blog series about cool places I’ve been in London and what I enjoy doing! My first year of university is over now, and I’m so glad I made time to visit so many places in this beautiful city.

As a student, tourist attractions can be a bit pricey (even with student discount), and they’re usually really crowded, so I tended to avoid them until my family came to visit. My Dad wanted to visit The View from the Shard (and take ten thousand photos), so we went up with one of my brothers.

I’m glad I got to go: the view is great (if you go on a nice day), and it’s one of those places that you only need to visit once for the experience.

It was quick to take the lift up! There was plenty of room to look around, and two floors to explore.

They have little computer systems that explain what all the landmarks are, and even show what the cityscape looked like in different time eras. Pretty cool!

Doesn’t the Thames look lovely and brown…

I enjoyed visiting The View from the Shard, but I wouldn’t go back because I don’t feel like I need to see it again.

The Shard has restaurants further down, which would be really nice for a special occasion!

The View from The Shard is £20 with a student discount, and you can stay up there as long as you want.

I’d definitely recommend it over going on the London Eye!

If you want to save money, I really recommend checking out the Sky Garden – it’s free!

We visited the Tower of London after, so I thought I should get a snap of it before going!

All the best,
