My favourite shampoo for curly hair

palmers coconut oil conditioning shampoo

It’s quite difficult to find good hair products for curly hair that don’t break the bank. Sulphates and silicones are awful for curls, so I set out to find a sulphate-free shampoo, and a silicone-free conditioner, but most of them are pretty damn expensive. I’m a student, and I get through shampoo quite quickly because I have so much hair, so I can’t afford to spend £10 per bottle.

I ended up browsing the ‘world beauty’ hair section in Sainsbury’s, which is full of products for curly / afro hair, and found the Palmer’s Coconut Oil Conditioning Shampoo. This is only £3.75, which is a bargain compared to other sulphate-free shampoos. I decided to try it out even though it’s for ‘fine, limp hair’ even though my hair is very thick, and it worked amazingly well! This shampoo is paraben-free, and contains vitamin E and Keratin, and of course it’s made with pure coconut oil, which is one of the best things you can use on curls.

I’ve seen lots of other products in the Palmer’s Coconut Oil range, including leave-in sprays, hair milk and a ‘hair pudding’ for curls! I’ve already gone through 2 bottles of the shampoo, so I will definitely be repurchasing this and trying out their other products.

  • Oh my goodness finding a shampoo that works for my long curly hair is such an issue for me! And they actually sell this one in the U.S. so I’ll be buying this ASAP. Thank you so much for your review, I’m so excited now!

    • Yay I’m glad it helped! It took me ages to find a good shampoo for my curls.

This sounds great! I’ve only recently been letting my hair go natural and I’ve found my hair is actually quite curly when I add a bit of mousse to it! I may have to find a shampoo like this!
